Georgia to have a new national park

Georgia will have a new national park located in the western Guria region of Georgia. Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia reported on Thursday.

The new project aims to protect biodiversity and preserve the ecosystem and unique nature of the mountainous landscape. Local and international experts will conduct various studies within the project.

“Guria National Park will attract tourist flows to the protected areas and bring additional economic benefits to the local population,” the ministry noted in a statement.

The Protected Areas Agency and the World Wildlife Fund will implement the project funded by the Swedish Embassy.
