Georgia-Belarus intelligence agency agreement to be not against citizens, PM says

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has echoed rumors about the Georgia-Belarus intelligence agency agreement that entered into force on August 1 this year.

“Another classic example of how fake news is created, and how they twist around the primitive data against the state,” Garibashvili stressed.

PM vows the agreement is “an ordinary framework agreement. The security services cooperate on transnational crime, terrorism as part of it, and it is not directed against any citizen.”

“The State Security Service of Georgia also clarified that many countries in Western Europe signed similar agreements with Belarus. Five years have passed since its signing in 2016, and no one has remembered it till now. It seems Belarus activated it a month ago, and again, our enemies kicked off another propaganda against the state. They marketed this information to the west as something abnormal, attempting to slander our country. I reiterate that this agreement is not directed against any citizen and is not pivotal,” the Prime Minister underscored.
