GD lawmaker Papuashvili believes parliament procedure boycott violates April 19 Agreement

The electoral reform voting demonstrated that the opposition Lelo and United National Movement (UNM) parties are the same, said Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the parliamentary Education Committee.

According to Papuashvili, none of them would succeed in a motion of no confidence against the government. Papuashvili reminded the signatories of the April 19 Agreement of their commitment to participate in the parliamentary procedures.

The parliamentary majority MP claimed that the UNM is just trying to create a negative background in the media and a fake thrill. “Only the majority can give a vote of no confidence to the government. Their efforts are futile and absurd,” Papuashvili claimed.

The Georgian Dream lawmaker accused the opponents of inconsistent behaviour. “It’s all their agony. They cannot seize power, they are aware they will lose the October 2 elections, and the Georgian people will not give them a mandate again, so they are trying to manipulate. I would like to remind the signatories of the April 19 Agreement of their commitment to participate in the parliamentary proceedings. A boycott will be a violation of this agreement. The opposition violates the April 19 Agreement every step it takes,” Shalva Papuashvili stated.
