GD Faction Chairman: Opposition must work in parliament

“The Georgian Dream repeats the same as the Ambassador of our main strategic partner. The opposition should work in the parliament if it thinks in the interests of statehood,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream Parliamentary Faction.

GD Faction Chairman commented on the statement of Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador to Georgia.

Mamuka Mdinaradze claimed that the ruling party made the right decision when it abstained from terminating MP mandates to the opposition lawmakers.

“Similar statements of our partners are vital when both Georgia and the whole world face difficult problems caused by the pandemic. The crisis is a burden for all countries, and the opposition boycott is much more damaging in this situation,” Mamuka Mdinaradze claimed.

US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said that the resolution was possible if the parties put Georgia’s interests first.

“If the parties’ leaders put the country’s interests first, listen to what voters are telling them is important to them, which are jobs and high prices and poverty and economic impact of Covid-19. I think that urgency of those issues will encourage the parties to reach a compromise, find a solution and get into parliament to start working,” Kelly Degnan stated.
