GD Chairman calls on UNM's Melia to obey the law

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party, said at the briefing on Thursday that the ruling team calls on Nika Melia, Chairman of the United National Movement, to obey the law. Otherwise, the government will ensure the implementation of the law and his arrest.

It is the government’s responsibility to firmly and strictly protect the state’s dignity, Kobakhidze declared.

“Amid the PM’s resignation, the Minister of Internal Affairs made a completely logical decision to postpone Nikanor Melia’s arrest. Now our political team will be entirely focused on forming a new government. We call on Nikanor Melia to obey the law. Otherwise, the government will ensure the implementation of the law and his arrest,” Kobakhidze declared.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia resigned today. Now former Prime Minister said it was unacceptable to enforce even a lawful measure against one particular person if it endangers the health and life or pushes for political escalation in Georgia.
