GD Chair: Nika Melia aids own arrest

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Chair, Irakli Kobakhidze, said: “Nika Melia aided own arrest.”

Kobakhidze thanked the Interior Minister and police for the exemplary execution of the court order. “This is a state that respects its dignity and the rule of law.

Melia was a dangerous person. He could do everything to come to power. Any arrest is painful as it is,” Kobakhidze stressed.

Earlier this morning, the police arrested Chair of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) Nika Melia. Following Melia’s arrest, UNM announced a protest rally on Tuesday.
