GD Akhaltsikhe Mayoral candidate not to doubt in winning

According to the preliminary data of the Central Election Commission (CEC), collected from the 36 polling stations counted in Akhaltsikhe, the Georgian Dream (GD) candidate Irakli Lazarishvili leads with 56, 97% of votes against his rival from the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party Davit Baliashvili, who showed 27, 52% of voter support in the October 2 local elections.

“We did not doubt about winning since we had great support from the population. Positive emotions came from people. Every member of our party put much effort. Important infrastructure projects, which the city hall carried out, should complete. Our main aim is to arrange the city and houses well, create sports and cultural spaces. Health and social projects will have more support,” Irakli Lazarishvili claimed.

Run-off of the October 2 local elections will be held in 20 out of 64 municipalities, as CEC preliminary results show.

The local elections were held on October 2 in Georgia.
