Foreign Minister to leave for Washington

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani will leave for Washington, US, today. Zalkaliani will take part in the inaugural meeting of the new International Religious Freedom Alliance.

The alliance was first announced by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last July and touted by President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in September. It is said to be the first-ever alliance of nations devoted to confronting religious persecution around the world.

Within the framework of the visit, Georgian Foreign Minister will hold meetings in the U.S. Department of State, Congress and with experts. Zalkaliani will be back to Georgia on February 7.
