Foreign Minister says all mechanisms are used to establish death cause of Georgian citizen

All the embassies of Georgia have received relevant instructions to inform our partner countries about the case, – Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani told journalists when commenting on the death fact of Irakli Kvaratskhelia, 29, a Georgian citizen detained by the de facto Abkhazian regime.

According to Zalkaliani, Georgia uses all mechanisms to establish objective circumstances. “We informed the international community about this case. We had a conversation with the EU Special Representative, as well as the UN, OSCE, Geneva co-chairs. We are in constant communication with the EU monitoring mission. Every Embassy of Georgia has received relevant instruction to inform all our partner countries about the case and naturally all additional tools will be used to ensure that the international community is accurately informed about this outrageous fact. In addition, I will communicate with representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Tbilisi,” Zalkaliani stated.

As for the reports that the Georgian citizen was beaten, the Foreign Minister said he had no information about it.

Irakli Kvaratskhelia, 29, committed suicide after he was detained by the de-facto Abkhazian authorities. The information about the suicide was released on March 12 by the State Security Service of Georgia.
