Federica Mogherini and Davit Zalkaliani hold phone conversation over situation in occupied regions

Davit Zalkaliani, Georgian Foreign Minister and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy held a phone conversation about the current situation in Georgia’s occupied regions.

Georgian Foreign Minister provided the EU High Representative with the detailed information about the difficult environment with respect to human rights and the illegal borderization process being carried out by the occupational forces in Gugutiantkari village by the installation of artificial barriers and limiting the free movement of locals with that move.

Zalkaliani stressed on the necessity of the EU’s role in the implementation of the Georgian government’s peaceful policy for regulation of the conflict and presence of EUMM for de-escalation of the tense situation and provision of security.

Federica Mogherini reiterated the support of the EU to Georgia’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
