European Integration Committee: EU, NATO integration to be choice of Georgian people

Georgia is a sovereign state, and it has the full right to choose its foreign course, said Maka Bochorishvili, Chairwoman of the parliamentary European Integration Committee.

Bochorishvili commented on the statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko made on March 25 in Geneva, Switzerland.

“Georgia’s integration into the EU and NATO is the choice of Georgian people. Russia’s interference in Georgia-EU and Georgia-NATO relations is unacceptable,” Maka Bochorishvili stated.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Georgia’s aspiration to become the European Union and NATO member is an unjustified choice. It will bring further escalation, tension and uncertainty in the region, Rudenko said.
