Dozens of seats of fire reported in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region

Dozens of seats of fire broke out in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region of Georgia during the day. Due to strong winds, the fire spread to the agricultural plots and burned hazelnuts and blueberry plantations.

“In total 40 seats of fire have been reported in the region, 19 of them are still active, 11 have been put out, and eight contained”, acting State Representative in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region Malkhaz Toria said.

A special commission will be set up in the municipalities to assist families affected by the disaster.
