Defense Minister - The present-day Army is different and way stronger than the one 10 years ago - we're working on ten-year National Defense Strategy

The present-day Army, in terms of its preparedness, is radically different and way stronger than the one 10 years ago, – said Defense Minister Irakli Gharibashvili in the Parliament where he reported to lawmakers within Minister’s Hour format.

According to Defense Minister, a ten-year National Defense Strategy will be drafted that will serve as a long-term plan for the development of Armed Forces.

“Today, I can dare to say that the present-day Army, in terms of its preparedness, is radically different and way stronger than the one 10 years ago. However, in order to consistently strengthen its effectiveness, a ten-year National Defense Strategy is being drafted by the Defense Forces. This will be a long-term plan for the development of the Armed Forces.

The document will help to define the ways of mobilizing the whole country’s resources and the roles of the Defense Forces and Government units within the governmental coordinating efforts,” – Gharibashvili stated.
