Davit Zalkaliani: Georgia took many steps to send Russia message of readiness to de-escalate situation, but we saw no reciprocal steps

The second round of the so-called elections in occupied Abkhazia will have no legitimization and this is confirmed in the numerous statements made by all international actors, all those organizations that are directly involved in the Geneva negotiations, –  Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani made this statement.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, those formats, including the Abashidze-Karasin format,  which have the potential to take even more important steps, should be used maximally.

“Georgia has taken many steps to send Russia a message of readiness to de-escalate the situation, but, unfortunately, we but we saw no reciprocal steps. Therefore, when it comes to dialogue, this should be focused on de-occupation,  on that major problem, which is the most serious factor hindering relations between Russia and Georgia – this is the occupation of our territories”, – Zalkaliani added.
