Davit Chakua extradited from Germany (VIDEO)

Former Head of the Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Corrections of Georgia, Davit Chakua, has been extradited from Germany.

Chakua has been wanted by the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) since 2013. Along with convicts Bachana Akhalaia, Rezo Charbadze and Megis Kardava, he was convicted on March 27, 2006, of provoking a prison riot in Tbilisi, which resulted in the death of seven prisoners.

Chakua together with former Minister of Justice of Georgia Zurab Adeishvili, was also convicted of torturing prisoners; abuse of office; falsification of evidence and violence against a witness.
