Civil activists of the United Opposition, European Georgia, clashed with the law enforcers in the town of Chkhorotsku in western Georgia on Wednesday.

The rally participants tried to enter the City Hall building, but the police did not let them.

Protesters are demanding the resignation of Chkhorotsku Municipality Mayor Davit Gogua following a disputed video showing schoolchildren cleaning the Municipality Hall’s toilets.

Civil activists urge Georgian Public Defender Nino Lomjaria to study the case.

Georgian Interior Ministry launched an investigation under Article 150 of the Criminal Code, which implies coercion.

The local radio Atinati posted a video on Facebook where seven graders of the local public school were forced to clean the City Hall’s toilets as part of a ‘Saturday cleanup’ campaign. Both the headmaster and the class teacher were aware.
