The map of the Caucasus made in the 18th century by Guillaume Delisle, a French cartographer, known for his popular and accurate maps of Europe, has been handed over to the Georgian government – Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

The ceremony was held at the Georgian Embassy in Poland. The map was kept in the family of Officer Giorgi Tsertsvadze-Vardisian. The copy of the map is preserved in the National Archive of Georgia.

The map is drawn based on the information of the visit of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani, Georgian writer and diplomat, to King Ludovicus XIV in 1713-1716.

Georgian Ambassador to Poland Ilia Darchiashvili and representatives of Georgian Diaspora in Poland attended the activity.
