Cars not passing technical inspection will be fined by "smart" cameras

As of today, the cars that have not passed a technical inspection will be fined by “smart” cameras. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released information.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the owners of the cars will receive a short text message on the phone number recorded in the database the Customer Service Agency. After the reception the SMS an individual shall enjoy 20% benefit if he/she pays the penalty within 10 calendar days from the day of the SMS. If the person does not pay the video fine within 10 days after receiving the short message, the penalty will be sent via email, and the video will be sent again to the person within the period from 30 to 60 days.

In case of failure to deliver the video slip by a mail twice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia shall ensure the publication of the slip on its official website: www.police.ge.

The Technical Inspection became obligatory to the entire auto park in Georgia starting from 2019. The inspection of light cars will take place in stages depending on a vehicle’s registration date.
