Carl Hartzell: For development of Georgian agriculture, its important to export more Georgian products to EU market

For the development of agriculture of Georgia, it is important to increase the quality, establish the standard and export more Georgian products to the EU market, –  EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell told reporters when commenting about the International Conference on Rural Development.

“I am very glad that such an important conference is being held in Georgia on behalf of the European Union. This conference will determine the country’s agricultural and rural development in the next seven years. I mentioned several key moments in my speech. One, of course, is that the rural development strategy for the next 7 years should be a participatory process. Therefore, I am glad that not only the Ministry of Environment Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture, but many other ministries and the government are fully involved in this process”, –  the Ambassador said.

As he noted, it is important for local municipalities to have as much power and resources as possible to develop agriculture. “For the development of agriculture of Georgia, it is important to increase the quality, establish the standard and export more Georgian products to the EU market” – he added.

The International Conference on Rural Development Policy 2020+ is organized by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
