Bidzina Ivanishvili – Banks came as burden to population

Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia Party and former Prime Minister of Georgia talked about abundance of debts and bank regulations in an interview with “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze” Program of First Channel.

According to Ivanishvili, he used to remind Giorgi Kvirikashvili, former prime minister, about the problem related to abundance of debts. He said that Bank of Georgia and TBC Bank were especially burden for people. “The population cannot cover their debts and this is abnormal. . . .  It is a shame that people pay more than 1/3 of their income on interest rate service,” Chairman of Georgian Dream Party said.

However, Bidzina Ivanishvili underlined that banking institute was very important for the country; those two banks were on the first place with respect to rentability and the fact was something to be proud about. “Banks have to be cared about. There should not be an impression in the public that we are against banks,” he said.

He added that regulations and coordination was the obligation of the government and this had to happen in time.
