Archil Talakvadze – President missed important issues in his report

This was a very short report – we had expectations that he would speak more deeply about important issues of the country, – Archil Talakvadze, Leader of the parliamentary majority, said after President’s annual speech in the Parliament.

According to Talakvadze, President’s report did not concern the country’s defense capabilities, economic development, Archil Tatunashvili’s death case or other important issues.

“The report missed a number of very important issues. We could not hear anything about Georgia’s defense capabilities or our soldiers protecting Georgia’s security in Georgia and international missions. We could not hear anything about how the President assesses Georgia’s strategic cooperation with the US and the EU or the prospects for the EU integration. He did not even talk about Archil Tatunashvili’s life, which has been the most important fact in our recent history and was followed by international reactions.

The report did not include in-depth assessment of the economic development of Georgia either and it said practically nothing about the constitutional reform on which the Venice Commission published a positive report. We will try to give the population maximum information about all these issues during the political debate,” Talakvadze said.
