Opposition supporters set up another tent at parliament

The opposition supporters set up another tent outside the Parliament building in Tbilisi on Saturday. They have already pitched ten tents in front of the parliament. Protesters say any citizen can stay in a tent overnight. Tents have heaters, hot tea, and coffee.

The protesters marched from Tbilisi Concert Hall to the supreme legislative building and later to the Government Administration on February26. The rally participants demand the release of UNM Chair Nika Melia and early elections.

UNM vowed to kick off picketing the state institution buildings from March 2 during the February 26 protest at the parliament.

The riot police detained the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party leader Nika Melia at the party’s headquarters on February 23.
