Ana Dolidze, Nazi Janezashvili to submit legislative initiatives to parliament regarding judicial candidates

Ana Dolidze and Nazi Janezashvili, non-judge members of the High Council of Justice, will submit legislative proposals to the parliament regarding re-nomination of judicial candidates for Supreme Court of Georgia.

“The fight for fair court started in the Council of just a year ago and we have achieved the first victory – this is the termination of a black list. We have been talking for two years that the Council of Justice is usurping the power. If someone joins us today we welcome it, but it would be better if a lot of statements were made earlier. We will submit legislative proposals to parliament how to re-nominate the candidates for Supreme Court judges. The Council should make this decision unanimously based on an open and public interview,” Dolidze said.

She said nobody will be able to cheat the Georgian people by appointing “unwanted and nondependent people in the court” through the decision of “some working groups” announced behind closed doors.

“The greatest interest of the Georgian people is directed towards this process, so in my opinion, this process will be transparent and open and the parliament will have to discuss the normal democratic process,” Ana Dolidze said.
