Amiran Gamkrelidze: Truck drivers are main source of imported cases in the last 4 weeks

According to the head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, a total of 63 truck drivers have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in Georgia.

As he notes this figure is quite a low percentage of those drivers who bring cargo to the country daily.

“Truck drivers entering the border have undergone about 40,000 rapid tests. Suspicious cases are rechecked by PCR tests. 63 drivers were confirmed to have COVID-infection. In the last 4 weeks, one of the main sources of imported cases is truck drivers” -Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
