According to the head of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze, the epidemiological situation in the world is still difficult.

“As you know, there are trends of new wave in many countries. The number of infected cases has exceeded 16.5 million,” – Gamkrelidze said.

As for the situation in Georgia, according to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the dynamics of an increase in the number of cases of the virus in Georgia has been recorded over the past week.

“In general, over the past week, we have seen the dynamics of an increase in cases of the disease in the country. In the period from 20 to 26 July, there are 98 cases within one week. Of these, 22 are associated with Gachiani, 14 are contacts with confirmed cases, 13 are imported. Among the imported ones are truck drivers, ” – said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

At the same time, according to Gamkrelidze, a total of 92 truck drivers were identified as a result of the study, who were confirmed to have an infection.

“We have identified 14 people who were in contact with Lilo and Gachiani. At the same time, unfortunately, during the week we have 14 infections of medical personnel, ” – Gamkrelidze said.
