Amiran Gamkrelidze: 23 COVID-19 cases linked to the so-called Saburtalo Cluster

Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) said Georgia’s COVID-19 cases stand at 794.

As International Children’s Day is celebrated today, Gamkrelidze talked about the coronavirus statistics in children.

“in Georgia, 72 children (10%) aged between 0 and 14 years old have contracted the virus.

32 children (4,4%) aged between 15 and 19 diagnosed with coronavirus,” Gamkrelidze said.

The Head of NCDC discussed the so-called Saburtalo Cluster and noted that 23 cases of the virus have been linked to this cluster.

“There were misinterpretations when I mentioned my colleague. Yes, my colleague is a medical worker in one of the hospitals, not an employee of the National Center for Disease Control. This person was the source of infection of Saburtalo Cluster,” Gamkrelidze stressed.

Amiran Gamkrelidze added that 103 contacts of this cluster have identified and tested. Among them, 42 have placed under quarantine.
