Ambassador of the Netherlands: Investigation into June 20 developments must be conducted and then those responsible must be identified

“Investigation into June 20 developments must be conducted and then, based on its results, those responsible must be identified” -said Johannes Douma, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia.

When asked whether Georgia’s Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia should resign, Johannes Douma said that such issues in his country are solved after conducting a comprehensive investigation.

“This is a matter of comprehensive investigation, consisting of several issues. First of all, it should be investigated whether this is a collective or individual responsibility, where was the government, where was the minister, how people behaved. If it happened in the Netherlands, a very deep investigation would have been conducted and based on its results, the government would have decided what kind of responsibility to impose on them or on the minister.

Somebody is responsible for the June 20 developments and someone should take this responsibility. It is of the utmost importance to conduct an investigation and based on its results, identify those responsible”, – Ambassador said.
