The US Embassy to Georgia has echoed the World Heritage Committee’s decision to add Georgia’s Colchic rainforests and wetlands to its list of world heritage sites.

“Congratulations on UNESCO’s recognition of Georgian national parks! Earlier this month Ambassador Degnan visited one of these gems – the breathtaking Kolkheti National Park – and expressed the United States’ continued support for the development of Georgia’s National Park Systems,” Embassy said.

UNESCO added Georgian rainforests and wetlands to its list of world heritage sites on July 26. The site is comprised of seven parts on an 80km span along Georgia’s Black Sea coast. It includes the Mtirala and Kolkheti National Parks, as well as the Kintrishi and Kobuleti protected areas.
