Georgian Patriarch makes first comment about detention of Archpriest Giorgi Mamaladze

Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II made the first comment about detention of Archpriest Giorgi Mamaladze, charged for having attempted to poison a high-ranking clergyman, from Berlin, Germany.

“Strange and abnormal situation,” – this is how Ilia II evaluated the latest developments around the Patriarchate. His Holiness said that he had known Mamaladze for many years and could not say anything but good about him. 

In an address, Patriarch also talked about successful surgery and expressed hope that everything would become clear and situation turn to calm. The address of Patriarch was released through social network by Zugdidi and Tsaishi Eparchy.
