Transparency International-Georgia non-governmental organization released a statement about election of Vasil Maghlaperidze as new General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB). The decision of GPB’s Board of Trustees is criticized based on the statement.

According to the statement, some members of Board suspect about circulation of political motives in the process. The NGO calls on the Board for making explanations and providing arguments behind the decision.

Vasil Maghlaperidze was elected as GPB’s General Director on January 6, 2017 with 6-year term. He received 6 votes from 8-member Board.
