Family members of 18-year-old man blame doctors of negligence

Family members of an 18-year-old girl, who died in Kutaisi city, Imereti region, blame doctors for negligence. The girl was found at home being in unconscious condition. She was first transferred to Chiatura and then to Kutaisi hospital. Doctors said the patient had taken sleeping pills with purpose of committing suicide. The family does not agree with the version of death.

Investigative activities were carried out on February 24 at so-called Matrosov Prison where Archpriest Giorgi Mamaladze, charged for having attempted to poison a high-ranking clergyman, is placed.DNA and handwriting samples of Mamaladze were taken. Mikheil Ramishvili, Mamaladze’s lawyer said that security of the charged archpriest as well as his family members were not properly ensured and called on Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili for visiting the charged clergyman in the nearest days.

Change of staff in security of Patriarch not confirmed

Tako Gachechiladze , Georgian contender of 2017 Eurovision Song Contest (ESC)  is preparing for the Contest. Working on an entry song for ESC has been almost finished. Process of shooting the video clip for the song “Keep the Faith” will be started in several days.The 2017 ESC will be held in Kiev's International Exhibition Centre. The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 May, with the grand final on Saturday 13 May.

Handwriting samples are collected as well, which indicates the possibility of existence of a written material.Giorgi Mamaladze was not interrogated today. The lawyers accuse the Prosecution’s Office of prolonging the process artificially.The new lawyer has listened to several records, after which he denies mentioning “cyanide” from the defendant during the conversation.Giorgi Mamaladze, who is charged for attempted murder, expresses readiness to cooperate with the investigation. He plans to talk about the details of the gun discovered in his house.Questioning of Shorena Tetruashvili, Secretary-Referent of Georgian Patriarch is planned as well. Archpriest and Head of Patriarchate’s Property Management Service was detained on February 10, 2017, at Tbilisi International Airport before his departure to Germany. According to Prosecutor's Office poisonous substance - sodium cyanide, kept in a concealed manner, was seized upon the search of his luggage. The investigation continues under Articles 18-108 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.  In addition, the investigation is ongoing on the charge of keeping weapon illegally.

Appeal Court upheld the verdict delivered by City Court on Valeri Gelashvili's case

The Appeal Court of Georgia has found guilty the convicted former Interior Minister Vano Merbiashvili over the case of assault on MP Valeri Gelashvili.  The court has upheld the verdict delivered by Tbilisi City Court on September 22, 2016. As a result, Merabishvili has been sentenced to 6 years and 9 months in jail according to the absorption principle.

The whereabouts of Soso Osorauli, Georgian pilot captured in the Democratic Republic of Congo by the rebels, is still unknown.
