Hailstorm and strong wind that hit Georgia’s eastern region of Kakheti inflicted serious damages to three villages of Lagodehi district.The agricultural plots were damaged.According to governor, the information about the amount of inflicted damage will become known in the nearest future.

Restoration works in Racha region

Restoration works in elimination of damage inflicted to Racha region of Georgia as result of heavy rains and flood are ongoing in intensive regime. The central road connecting Shovi and Utsera resorts is restored. No electricity is supplied to Ghebi and Glola villages. The water pipe also needs to be repaired. It stopped raining in Racha and water level is lowered in the rivers.

Overflow of the Rioni River caused problems in Racha region of Georgia. Central streets and courtyards of locals are flooded in Oni town. Two villages of Oni district are cut off the regional center. Heavy rain damaged the road leading to Ghebi and Gona villages. Cleaning works are ongoing in Shovi resort. Heavy vehicles are dispatched to the region. Rescue teams are also working in Utsera resort due to facing danger of the road section collapse.

Damage inflicted by heavy rain being calculated in Samegrelo

The amount of damage inflicted by heavy rain to Georgia’s western Samegrelo region is being calculated. Special Headquarters is working in 24-hour regime. The rain destroyed a bridge in Akhuti village, Chkhorotsku district. Traffic movement is prohibited across the bridge. The village is cut off the rest of the region. Locals have to walk 20 kilometers to get to the village. Agriculture plots are flooded. Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regional Governor and Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure inspected the situation in the region.

Two years after June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi

Two years passed after June 13, 2015, deadly flooding in Tbilisi. Twenty-one people dead, 2 missing and more than 1000 victims – this is result of the natural disaster that hit Georgia’s capital 2 years ago. Facilities to make alarm about feasible disaster are now installed in Vere Gorge. The stations detect water level, hit landslides and transfer signals to relevant services.  Houses, roads, bridges, tunnels and communication systems were damaged. Mziuri territory and Tbilisi Zoo were destroyed. Majority of animals of the zoo was killed in the flooding. Infrastructure was damaged including Vake-Saburtalo new highway, section of Tskneti road. The amount of inflicted damage reached 100 million GEL.

Flooded houses, damaged roads, bridges and sewer system - the amount of damage inflicted to ten villages of Surami and Khashuri districts due to the latest heavy rain is being calculated. After pumping water from flooded houses in Surami, locals have to clean their houses and yards by own forces. The population demands to restore drainage channels and the sewage system.The locals of Kvishkheti village are counting on assistance, where the swollen river Shola flooded several houses and destroyed the crops.

Road cleaning works continue in Tbilisi. Due to heavy rain and hailstorm, several districts have been flooded in Tbilisi. The water reached the basements and entrances of the apartment buildings. The downpour that hit Akhaldaba last night blocked the central road. The gas pipeline was damaged.Rehabilitation works are underway, however locals is supplied with natural gas and potable water with limitations.

Heavy rain and hailstorm inflicted damage to regions of Georgia. As a result of natural disaster local of Khashuri district, 43-year-old Vasil Ghonghadze died. He fell into the swollen river yesterday night. His body was found in Narvani village. The situation is Surami is difficult. The ground floors of the houses have been flooded.  Agricultural crops have been damages. Poultry has been killed.Landslide hit the Khashuri district. Rain has flooded streets, basements and entrances of residential houses.Rescue service brigades worked in emergency regime during the night.The downpour that hit Akhaldaba last night blocked the central road. Three villages of Gurjaani district hit by hailstorm

According to Monitoring and Forecasting Center of National Environmental Agency, rain and wind are in the forecast in western Georgia today. The temperatures will be +7 +12 degrees.As for eastern Georgia, rain and wind are expected in some areas, while the temperatures will be +11 +16 degrees. Dry weather and strong winds are in the forecast for today; temperatures will be +14 degrees.Weather forecasters prognosticate that weather will brighten up on April 26 in Georgia. The temperatures will rise to +15 degrees in western Georgia and + 12 +17 degrees in eastern Georgia.

Georgian weather forecasters of National Environment Agency prognosticate harsh drop of air temperature across Georgia on April 9-10. The air temperature will lower starting the end of the day on April 8 that will last for two days. “Some locations will be hit by strong west wind. Highlands may see avalanche. Storm is also expected at the Black Sea,” says the statement released by the Agency.
