29 year old man died in a car accident at March 8 Street in Poti town.Vehicles crashed onto a Lighting pole and turned over.First Aid Brigade, patrol police and rescue service were mobilized at the scene.Investigation into the accident is ongoing.

First airplane lands at Ambrolauri airport

The first airplane landed at the newly-opened airport in Ambrolauri town of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region of Georgia. Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili was the first passenger of the plane. Head of the government will open the airport of modern design and a passenger terminal, which will be able to serve 50 passengers at one time. The airport will host 15-20-passenger jets of small size at the initial stage. Receipt of larger airplanes and expansion of the terminal is planned for the future.

The truck loaded with Magnolia tree is stopped near Bobokvati railway.According to company "Zimo", the railway power transmission lines will be temporarily removed due to transportation and then the tree will be placed at a special boat.Magnolia will be planted next to 100-year-old tulip tree in Dendrology Park in Guria region. Officers of the occupational regime of South Ossetia detained the man when he was on his way to the local church. Russian soldiers transferred the man to Tskhinvali pre-detention isolator. Negotiations in his release are ongoing through the hot-line of European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM).

A man dressed up as Santa Claus has robbed a store in Batumi, western Adjara region of Georgia. The man knocked on the door of the Yalchin Supermarket saying he wanted to congratulate them on the New Year. The incident took place on New Year Eve. When the store employees opened the door the man threatened them and demanded money. According to the local residents, the employees got frightened and gave him up to 40 thousand GEL. Investigation has been in progress according to the article #179 of Georgia’s Criminal Code. The perpetrator is still at large.
