Zurab Chiaberashvili says that both export and import is decreased in Georgia

Zurab Chiaberashvili, a member of European Georgia parliamentary faction claims that both export and import are decreased in Georgia to the level of 2011. Chiaberashvili brought to the attention the report published on January 20 by Statistics National Department which talks about foreign trade. According to Chiaberashvili, the government carries out incorrect policy and the only way out of economic crisis is reduction of taxes.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has met with King Felipe VI of Spain, the Governmental Administration reports. The discussion involved the International Tourism Fair scheduled to open today. Attention was paid to the tourism industry as one of the most important socioeconomic sectors. During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia spoke of Georgia's growing tourism potential and stated that, in 2016, some 6.4 million guests visited the country, and the tourism revenues exceeded two billion USD. The meeting at the El Pardo Palace was attended by UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai. After the meeting, the inauguration of International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development was held at the royal palace, attended by representatives of the global political and economic communities. In his speech delivered at the event, the UNWTO Secretary General once again spoke of Georgia. According to him, Georgia is a brand associated with a beautiful country and wonderful people. The guests were addressed by King Felipe VI of Spain who wished them success.

Those who took loans before 2015 through ensuring it with real estate property will be able to transform credit into Lari with 0.20 GEL less per one USD. There are limitations. First airplane lands at Ambrolauri airport

The first airplane landed at the newly-opened airport in Ambrolauri town of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region of Georgia. Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili was the first passenger of the plane. Head of the government will open the airport of modern design and a passenger terminal, which will be able to serve 50 passengers at one time. The Georgian National currency Lari has slightly gained value. The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has set a new exchange rate. 1 USD costs 2.7211 GEL. The previous exchange rate was 2.7372 GEL. Georgia’s national currency has also gained value against Euro. Starting tomorrow, 1 EUR will cost 2.8961 Gel while the previous rate was 2.9091 Gel.

The government of Georgia has approved the bank credits Larization program. The program will take effect starting January 17. As Georgia’s Finance Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili declared, the government will implement subsidization of the Larization process according to the criteria selected by the government. The Finance Minister has mentioned several significant criteria. According to him, the program will apply to the persons whose annual income was not more than 100 thousand Gel in 2015 and the remaining entire credit balance is not more than USD 40 thousand for January 1, 2015. ‘If the credit was covered from January 1, 2015 till November 28, 2016 the government will implement subsidization in this case,’ Kumsishvili claimed. According to him the national currency will experience less influence by means of the program as the creditors will no longer have to buy dollar every month.
