„Georgia - The Cradle of Wine“ - Prime Minister opens the exhibition in Bordeaux

The wine exhibition Georgia - The Cradle of Wine opened in the city of Bordeaux, France.Unique archaeological and ethnographic artifacts from the National Museum of Georgia proving that Georgia has an ancient wine civilization were presented at the Center of Wine Civilization- Cité des Civilisations Du Vin in Bordeaux, France.Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili opened an exhibition titled Georgia - Cradle of Wine in Georgia.National Museum of Georgia prepared the exposition that presents Georgian wine culture and depicts the longest and uninterrupted 8 000-year long history of wine-making.The head of the Government visited the exhibition hall.

Elton John - I am very sad to be losing the Georgia shows...So will see you all very soon

British pop and rock star, singer and composer Elton John released a statement regarding the rescheduling of the concerts in Georgia on his facebook page.“I am very sad to be losing the Georgia shows. Davey is unable to perform, but he will be back soon. We will reschedule the shows for next year, as we were very much looking forward to playing in Georgia. So will see you all very soon” - Elton John writes. Elton John and his band were due to perform on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September at the Black Sea Arena. These dates have now been rescheduled to Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July 2018. Guitarist and Musical Director Davey Johnstone has underwent a surgery on his hand, which was named the official reason for the postponement of the concerts.

Junior Eurovision 2017 - Accreditation for P and F passes closes on Friday 27th October

The media representatives and fans who wish to obtain accreditation for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) will have to register at the following link: eurovisionfamily.tv no later than 27 October (12:00 CET) (after being registered the user has to follow the instruction and submit application for the relevant accreditation).As a reminder, the press or fan accreditation does not provide direct attendance at Eurovision concert (It is not valid as a concert ticket). Accredited reporters and fans will be able to work / move in the relevant accreditation zones.

First Channel announces contest to select the Georgian entry song for 2017 JESC

First Channel is announcing a contest to select the Georgian entry song for 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). Grigol Kipshidze will present Georgia at JESC this year.All interested persons, authors and songwriters are encouraged to send the songs composed specially for this contest and biography at E-mail - junioreurovision@gpb.ge.The song must not be more than 3 minutes long and lyrics should be in Georgian language. The applications can be sent from September 12 till September 25. For additional information view eurovision-georgia.ge; or call 2409110. Georgia is hosting 2017 JESC. The 15th competition will be held on November 26 at Tbilisi Olympic Palace.

Premiere at Poti Theater

A premiere was held at Poti Valerian Gunia State Theater. The theater troupe presented “Kreutzer Sonata,” a novella by Leo Tolstoy, named after Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata. The stage version belongs to Zaza Chanturia. Eight actors of Poti Theater participate in the 2-act play.

Open hearing of contenders took place at the pavilion of First Channel. The jury included producer Zaza Shengelia, singer Maia Baratashvili, musician Davit Evgenidze, from GPB - musical editor - Eliso Shengelia and voice director - Giorgi Asanishvili.Georgia is hosting 2017 JESC for the first time. The contest will be held on November 26 at Tbilisi Olympic Palace. Georgia is the most successful country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest having won the competition a record three times.

Open hearing of contenders took place at the pavilion of First Channel. The jury included producer Zaza Shengelia, singer Maia Baratashvili, musician Davit Evgenidze, from GPB - musical editor - Eliso Shengelia and voice director - Giorgi Asanishvili.Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) announced the national competition for selection of 2017 JESC contender on July 17. Children aged 9-14 could apply with the song from their own repertoire.Georgia is hosting 2017 JESC for the first time. The contest will be held on November 26 at Tbilisi Olympic Palace. A new song will be composed for Georgian contender of 2017. Gordon Bonello will be the staging director of 2017 JESC. He has cooperated with European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 2014. Georgian contender Mariam Mamadashvili won JESC 2016 on Malta with the song "Mzeo" (The Sun).

Elton John's concerts in Georgia postponed

The two concerts of British pop and rock star, singer and composer Elton John scheduled for September 16 and 17 on Black Sea Arena, have been postponed. The decision to postpone concerts at Black Sea Arena in Shekvetili has already been approved. Elton John's concerts will not be held this year in Georgia.According to the latest news, Steve Johnson, one of the member of Elton John’s band has underwent a surgery on his hand, which was named the official reason for the postponement of the concerts. Elton John and his band will hold the concerts in Georgia on June 30 and July 1, 2018, Giorgi Kereselidze, "Eastern Promotion” Company Director stated at the press conference.According to him, both sides have already signed the relevant agreement. These two concerts scheduled at Black Sea Arena (concert hall located on the coast of the Black Sea in Shekvetili, Guria, Georgia) will be the only concerts held by Elton John in Europe next year.As it has been reported, Elton John, his band and band management "Solo" and " Eastern Promotion" are very sorry for the incident and apologize to Georgian listeners. Elton John's representative also released official press release in relation to this issue. In addition, the owners of the tickets for the concerts of the 16th -17th September will be able to attend the concerts of June 30 and July 1 with the same tickets. The tickets of September 16 will be substituted with the tickets of June 30 and September 17 with July 1st respectively.

The final concert of Night Serenades festival was held at Rustaveli Theater last evening. Four concerts were held in Tbilisi and Batumi cities within the framework of the festival. Night Serenades festival was founded by Georgian worldwide known violinist Liana Isakaze. The first festival was held in Georgia’s one of two occupied regions of Abkhazia.

Counteraccusations between Minister of Culture and former Art Directors of Theaters

The accusations against the Minister of Culture and Mikheil Giorgadze's response to the former Art Directors of the Theaters.The Minister stresses on the violations existing in Tumanishvili Film Actors Theatre and describes the former head of the Puppet Theater as incompetent. Keti Dolidze and Elene Matskhonashvili are objecting the  the decision made by Mikheil Giorgadze.Keti Dolidze and Elene Matskhonashvili were dismissed as Art Directors. Georgia’s Minister of Culture signed the corresponding decree yesterday. Giorgi Sikharulidze will replace Keti Dolidze and Nikoloz Sabashvili is appointed as a new Art Director of Puppet Theater.

Filming of the postcards for 2017 JESC is underway

Preparation for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) in Tbilisi continues. The official postcards, shown between each national entry, are currently being filmed by Host Broadcaster GBP.This year, Georgian director Zaza Orashvili and his crew will shoot 18 videos in different regions of Georgia to introduce the country, its people and wide cultural diversity to European audience.The first phase of the production is done successfully in Imereti and Adjara regions. Currently, the crew continues to work in Stepantsminda.Georgia will Host the 2017 JESC. The competition will be held on November 26 at Olympic Palace in Tbilisi.

Concert of Nino Katamadze held at Black Sea Arena

The concert of Georgian singer Nino Katamadze was held last evening at Black Sea Arena in Shekvetili resort of Georgia. Katamadze performed for the audience on her birthday. Group Insight, National Symphonic Orchestra and choir of Georgia’s Patriarchate participated in the concert. Print Festival opened in Batumi

The International Print Festival has been opened in Batumi city of Adjara region. The festival will continue till September 7. Samples of hand printing, Lithography and other arts currently replaced by modern digital technologies will be exhibited. Works from Georgia, Germany, Turkey, Spain, Austria, Azerbaijan and Russia are at display. The project is implemented with support of Adjara Education and Culture Ministry and Association “Art Caucasus.”

Anita Rachvelishvili to hold concert in Batumi

Anita Rachvelishvili, the worldwide known Georgian opera mezzo-soprano will hold the final concert of the season at Piazza Square in Batumi city of Adjara region.Rachvelishvili laid the foundation of a tradition to hold concerts under open air several years ago at Aghmashenebeli Avenue in Tbilisi. Aside of classic musical pieces and opera arias, Anita Rachvelishvili will perform rock compositions together with Italian musicians in Batumi.

Concert of Gypsy Kings to be held at Black Sea Arena

The concert of Gypsy Kings legendary group of flamenco, salsa and pop musicians from Arles and Montpellier in the south of France, was held last night at Black Sea Arena in Shekvetili resort of western Georgia. The group members arrived in Georgia including Tonito Balliardo and Nicolas Reyes on this occasion. Tonito Balliardo described the concert as being “pleasant and emotional.” The concert was held within the framework of Check-In Georgia Project.
